Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Vice-President, Acute Care, Public Health and Chief Nursing Officer, the Executive Director, Health Services Acute Care provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership and oversight of the Acute Care Program, including direct supervision of the Acute Care Directors, their performance, and their site operations.

This Executive role is expected to set program priorities in alignment with organizational and provincial mandates, including implementation of provincially funded and mandated health initiatives. The role is part of a collaborative organizational staff and management team and is expected to manage individual/portfolio performance, productivity and outcomes while maintaining a strong working relationship with staff, organizational leaders, community partners, provincial stakeholders, government agencies, and the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (Interlake-Eastern RHA) President/CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

The position of Executive Director functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the mission, vision and values of the Interlake-Eastern RHA.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a degree in a related health discipline.
  • Current registration and a member in good standing with the applicable regulatory body as appropriate.
  • A suitable combination of post-secondary education and health care experience relevant to the position may be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Manitoba and Canadian health care systems including broad understanding of issues in rural health service delivery.
  • Demonstrated understanding trends and issues within local and national acute health care systems.
  • Familiarity with health labor relations and collective agreements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Familiarity with digital integration and optimization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of data driven planning, improvement, and accountability.
  • Has a proven history of effectively developing and supporting leaders and teams to achieve program outcomes while ensuring a positive work culture.
  • History of sustained effective partnerships with First Nations, community partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching, facilitate positive change and promote continuous improvement.
  • Has effectively established structures and processes that align with improved client and patient outcomes.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership competencies, effective critical thinking and proactive problem solving, and the ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and work collaboratively within a complex organization.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of middle-senior level health management experience.
  • Achieving outcomes in data driven process optimization and improvement.
  • Exemplifying leadership through words, actions, and results.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external operational and strategic partners.
  • Team building, including healthy conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate cross program integration and collaboration.
  • Problem-solving including creating and implementing innovative solutions to historical problems, and solution finding across-jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation actions, including anti-racism.
  • Solution-focused and action-oriented approach to understanding health equity and to closing health equity gaps.
  • Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of the Interlake-Eastern RHA.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
  • Experience achieving fiscal targets including preparation and management of budgets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health ethics and a commitment to working within an ethical framework that encourages evidenced-based decision making, accountability, transparency, and flexibility.
  • Valid Manitoba driver’s license.
  • Mental and physical ability to meet the demands of the position. .
  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory pre-employment security check.
  • Satisfactory employment record.
